Fall 2016

This has been a very busy year for all of us here at ALPACAS of Tualatin Valley. The CABA Classic came and went then we sheared all the animals for the next two days. We had a great crew this year with PCC students joining in the fun! Most of our fleeces flew out the door with buyers as soon as they came off the animals.

Once the shearing was completed, we had to get a group of 16 animals ready to transport to their new home back east. They got to travel in style in our fifth wheel sold with them and they arrived to an excited new owner who welcomed them into a previous group they purchased.

Babies began arriving and we had ten each, Huacaya and Suri between the first of June through August 16th each very special though I do have a favorite or two among them.

Our intern, Dr. Chris was here to help out with planting the tomatoes in the greenhouse again this year. Her parents visited from Brazil and are very sweet people who raised outstanding children. Chris now lives in Denver, Colorado and we miss her very much.

Dear Sweet Fanita continues into her second year as our Friday Delight. She comes to get her alpaca fix and she helps out socializing babies and has begun halter training. Soon she will be an alpaca owner!

The weather this year has been wonderful with the exception of our October 8th wind which knocked down a large cherry tree and crushed an implement shed. We will get it back up with the help of Danny who is now part of our crew and Salvador who is working into his 17th year at ATV.

November 15th another large group of some of my favorite girls will be leaving. It hurts my heart but I cannot keep them all. We still have over 80 alpacas, 20 chickens, 20 koi, 10 canaries, 2 dogs and 2 cats and each other so we count our blessing with the joy and purpose of life we have.

We wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
